Most of us know that Autism has always been represented by the color blue. But have you ever questioned why? Blue is strongly associated with Intelligence, Relaxation and Tranquility. It also connotes coldness, disconnection and indifference.
Aren’t our children more colorful than that? Don’t we want more qualities that come with acceptance and pride of Autism? ASD is short of Autism “Spectrum” Disorder. That particularly means that each person with Autism is unique and therefore, collectively form a range or a SPECTRUM. We cannot construct a large spectrum with one color. Avaani Foundation strongly believes that the autism spectrum is not different from a light spectrum. There are all colors in EVERY human being.
Henceforth, we urge every reader of this post to take some time to reflect on Color Representation and to spread this message. For any more explanations or questions, please feel free to message us.
Let’s move on from “blue” and embrace every single color Autism brings in our society. We support Neurodiversity!
